This sight has a great variety of Kindergarten appropriate book lists (a list of boy-friendly books, a list of girl-friendly books, beginning readers, etc.) compiled by parents, teachers, and children.
Additional mathematics learning activities
1. Practice number identification by writing number 1-20 on flashcards
2. Give a number (1-10) and ask, “How many more to make 10?” Repeat
through all numbers 1-10.
3. Practice writing numbers (worksheets available on the Homework page)
4. Practice adding within 10 (example: 1 + 6 = ?). Also practice this using multiple strategies: a number line, manipulatives, fingers. It is also helpful if you pose real or invented math story problems during the course of the day (e.g., if I had 6 apples and I ate 3, how many do I have left?) and ask your child to figure them.
5. National Council for Teachers of Mathematics has some excellent math games online. Okta’s Rescue is one the kids particularly enjoy. It is terrific for developing skills for counting and cardinality, number identification, various mathematical operations, and algebraic thinking. http://illuminations.nctm.org/Activity.aspx?id=3528
6. Practice oral counting to 100.
