You're invited to celebrate your child's Kindergarten birthday!
Please come celebrate your child's birthday with your child and his/her classmates! At the beginning of each month, I will send an email to the parents of all students who have a birthday that month. If you'd like to come in to celebrate, please let me know which day works best for you. We celebrate the last 20 minutes of class (10:40 AM or 2:45 PM). You may also choose not to join us- please don't think it is mandatory.
This is the usual procedure:
1. Student has a special guest (parent or parent substitute) come to class and read the birthday child's favorite book from home to the class.
2. The student brings 'five favorite things' to show the class (like show and tell; examples include pictures of family, souvenirs from a trip, etc.).
3. We sing Happy Birthday and take pictures.
4. The birthday child picks a toy from the 'Treasure Chest'.
5. The birthday child can pass out a treat (non-edible) if the parent/parent substitute choose to bring one for the class (17 students AM; 18 students PM). Some examples of past treats include pencils, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, or stickers. Please do not feel like this is required; it is your choice.
If you prefer that we do not celebrate your child's birthday, I am also happy to oblige. Please let me know if you have any questions!
